The last A2 book: work changes, people, repairs, parcels, apologies and invitations — the A2 exit.
What you'll learn
About this course
The last A2 book: work changes, people, repairs, parcels, apologies and invitations — the A2 exit.
One continuing story: Ben, an Australian who moved to Sài Gòn for work, his friend Mai and the neighbours of his hẻm — cô Sáu, anh Tuấn, Vy and chú Bảy — so every new word comes back in real situations.
The 10 lessons
1. I don't work there any more — Tuấn tells Ben he quit his job. Learners can discuss old and new jobs and express surprise using words like nghỉ việc, áp lực, and Ủa sao dzậy.
2. What is he like? — Mai describes their strict new team leader who overhears them. Learners can describe appearances and personalities using words like hiền, khó tính, and comparisons like không ai bằng.
3. Things break at home — Ben calls a repairman for his broken appliances. Learners can report broken items and ask for repairs using bị, nhờ sửa giùm, vòi nước, nghẹt, and cháy.
4. Sending & receiving parcels — Ben and Mai send parcels and handle a lost delivery. Learners can talk to shippers and manage lost items using gửi, mã vận đơn, thất lạc, đã, and chưa.
5. Apologising & complaining politely — Ben arrives late and politely complains about bad food. Learners can apologize with reasons and complain about service using hình như rồi, giùm được không, nguội, and nhạt.
6. Inviting, accepting & declining — Tuấn invites friends to his wedding, prompting acceptances and polite declines. Learners can handle invitations using đám cưới, thiệp, tiền mừng, and politely decline with để bữa khác nha.
7. The most … and full comparisons — The friends debate the best travel destination for Anna. Learners can make full comparisons, rank items, and argue mildly using words like nhất, thua, bình chọn, and hơn nhiều.
8. Ever, just, already, still — Ben reports his task progress and plans a party checklist. Learners can report work statuses using words like tiến độ, chuẩn bị, danh sách, vừa mới, and vẫn còn.
9. Review — A year in Sài Gòn — The group tells Anna about Ben's past year. Learners revise the previous eight lessons by recounting events using connectors like rồi, sau khi, and explaining things to a newcomer.
10. A2 exit test — Ben celebrates his first anniversary at a party. Learners take the A2 exit test, assessing their listening, speaking, and writing skills through realistic party conversations and cumulative tasks.
What you get
Inside every lesson: an illustrated student book (35–45 pages), native Southern Vietnamese recordings at two speeds (slow and natural), 24 interactive activities (dictation, listening, role-play with a twist, flashcards, tones and pronunciation, games) and a teacher guide your SVFF teacher follows page by page.
How it works
26 live hours with your SVFF teacher, plus about the same time of self-study. Each lesson has two 60-minute sessions with your teacher; lesson 9 is a review and lesson 10 the level test. Passing the level test moves you up to Level 6.
Southern (Sài Gòn) Vietnamese only: the words and the accent you hear in the street, the market and the office.
Requirements
- You finished Level 4 (A2 Book 2), or your teacher placed you at this level.
- A computer, tablet or phone with internet, and headphones for the recordings.
- About one hour of self-study for every hour of class (activities, recordings, homework).
Goals
- Talk about jobs and changes: không còn … nữa, vẫn còn, từng, vừa mới.
- Describe what people look like and what they are like.
- Report something broken at home and arrange a repair; send and collect parcels.
- Apologise, complain politely and answer a complaint.
- Invite, accept and decline in a natural Southern way, and pass the A2 exit test.

Your Instructor
SVFF is a Vietnamese language school in Ho Chi Minh City. We have taught Vietnamese to English speakers since 2018 — most of them partners, spouses and family of Vietnamese people, learning the language of the people they love. Our courses are built and taught by native teachers from both ends of the country, because Vietnamese is not one accent. What you hear in Hà Nội is not what you hear in Sài Gòn, and a learner who only ever meets one of them gets stuck the moment they travel. We teach the language as it is actually spoken.
