Co Thuong has the most comprehensive and intuitive learning lessons I have ever been a part of, I almost can't live without them!!!

I had a lot of fun with cô Thương in today's lesson learning about school subjects and grammatical structures to talk about the past. Thương is great at giving lots of application examples and encourages me to use those newly learned sentence structures while telling her about my own memories from my school days. The SVFF content also helps deepen the vocabulary learned from previous lessons so I felt like I could express myself quite broadly today.

Today I had another great lesson. I got some pictures of a family going to the beach, and wrote a story. Building a story like that was very useful for learning vocabulary. Cô Thương is very good at making lessons engaging, and I do enjoying writing stories.

After visiting Vietnam, I had several questions about the Northern Vietnamese accent. Miss Thương was able to give me a very in depth lesson on the nuances between Northern and Southern accents. This lesson helped a lot to improve my overall understanding of Vietnamese.

As always, Miss Thương is always prepared with review and fun Vietnamese discussion topics.

Today we did a role play practicing a doctor's visit, where I had the chance to both be the patient and the doctor to talk about health and wellbeing. Thuong prepped some common phrases with me before going into the role play so the conversation felt very smooth as we were doing it. It was a lot of fun and I learned a lot of helpful phrases and questions to talk about wellbeing today!

Learning more about Tết Nguyên đán has been very enriching. I love the Lunar New Year atmosphere and I got to learn wishes to say to family and friends during Tết. I'm excited to share those wishes to my loved ones. Cô Thương explained everything so perfectly, it was educational and funny.

Today we had a good lesson on talking about previous last year goals and new goals for the new year in Vietnamese.

I've had 19 lessons with cô Thương now, and I'm starting to feel more confident with my Vietnamese.
I'm very satisfied with my lessons, and how she tailors them to different situations. The latest one about the new year was quite useful, and I learned a lot of new words. Her ability to adapt the lesson to things I mention is great, and teaches me words that are useful in my daily life. Looking forward to more lessons!

I enjoy the mix of normal conversation where I can practice speaking and listening, and reviewing/reading exercises that helps me improve my vocabulary. Miss Thương is always well-prepared and explain things clearly.

Miss Thương is an incredible teacher, patient but also effective. I had a lot of anxiety about learning Vietnamese in front of someone because I have never spoken another language effectively. I have now been learning with Miss Thương for several months and will continue to for the indefinitely. She has helped me a lot! This was my first lesson with cô Thương (second lesson counting the trial). She was very patient, and gave me many useful words. Studying on my own was going a bit slowly, but with some lessons I'm encouraged to practice more. I enjoyed the lesson, and I'm looking forward to the next one.

I had my first lesson with Thuong. She is very supportive, intelligent and patient. All very important qualities in a teacher for me! Learning Vietnamese has always been scary for me, but so far with Thuong, the challenging parts of learning is fun and rewarding. :)

Such a funny lesson I had today. We've talked about what we usually eat on lunar new year day and talked about health. I know a lot a vocabularies for this topic, however since I don't employ them that much in a daily life, it was a good reminder. I've still learned many new words though. We also covered the subject of alcohol culture which was really interesting.

I find cô Thương truly interested in her students' backgrounds, such as what we've studied, our hobbies, what we don't like, etc. This leads to meaningful conversations which is really pleasing, relatable and funny.

In this lesson we've learned a lot of "câu Tục Ngữ" (idioms) related to the topic of health, which I love. My favorite one was "Yếu như sên" = "as weak as a slug", we had a good laugh.

Miss Thương covered a LOT of very useful things about asking different types of questions today, other types of pronouns, and practicing conversation around nationalities. This lesson was one of the most helpful for me. It was a lot to cover and I am letting it all sink in. Thank you for the excellent practice and information!

Miss Thương helped me practice introductions such as asking names, saying hello and goodbye. We also practiced and covered pronouns. My pronouns were rusty because I do not have regular daily practice in my personal life overseas. The lesson was good.

In this lesson, I finished “bài 1” by integrating even more vocabulary and I’ve started to learn things related to health in “bài 2”. It was exciting to start this lesson as health is an important topic, especially when traveling. I’ve learned different ways to express “quantities” such as “both… and…= cả…lẫn…” instead of using “và”. Miss Thương also answered in details the things that I, at first couldn’t understand. I really like to learn the différents ways to express one idea.

Miss Thương covered more pronunciation and specifics of southern Vietnamese. It has been very helpful to understand the differences in northern pronunciation and southern. Many things clicked for me that I did not understand before because I could not figure out which way to say things. The answer was... both ways are right, depending on where you are from.

Despite what people say, learning Vietnamese from written (phonetic) form is very confusing to an English speaker. Miss Thương makes it very clear and easy to understand though. It's been very enlightening having her as a teacher to explain the right way to pronounce ending consonants vs. what they appear to be to an English speaker.

Miss Thương explains very well the differences in Southern Vietnamese pronunciation vs. Northern - and there are many that go beyond simple letter substitutions such as d/r/gi. I self-studied for a long time and Miss Thương has helped me come a lot farther in only a few weeks time.

Ms Thuong's lessons are always very well prepared and enjoyable with a good variety of different activities to practice different skills, focusing on listening and speaking in my case. I feel challenged in the lessons in a good way. Ms Thuong will seamlessly correct my mistakes while continuing with the lesson. The role-playing exercises are particularly fun and good for practicing listening to sentences spoken in context.

This is my fourth lesson with Cô Thương. She did a great job explaining how to make diphthong and consonant cluster sounds. We also continue to practice making difficult sounds for me such as ng/ngh and I feel like I'm progressing quickly with that. Cô Thương provides me good notes, recordings, and practice material.

Today’s lesson was really funny. I got to describe my ideal boyfriend. Miss Thương taught me new vocabularies but also “ tục ngữ “ -> proverbs which I find important to learn and understand the underlaying meaning. I’m really looking forward to learning more proverbs.

Miss Thương also shared a song so relevant to the topic haha, amazing. I love it.

Miss Thương helped me a lot with pronouncing the dấu nặng tone correctly and also speaking some sentences with a mixture of tones at a regular pace. It has been very helpful getting practice with all of the tones and hearing them side-by-side. The help I've received has been exceptional.

Chị Thương is always well prepared for lessons with interactive review exercises and is always helpful with explanations of Vietnamese phrases or words when I'm confused.

It was my first one hour long lesson. Time flew by so fast. The lesson was very interesting. Miss Thương helped me with new vocabularies and the ones I already knew but would use in an incorrect way. Miss Thương was also willing to answer questions that had no particular correlation with the lesson, which was really nice. I'm very looking forward the next lesson!

Miss Thương helped me hearing the difference between nh and ng sounds, which has been troublesome for me. I need to practice moving my mouth in a way it's not used to, but she has explained the difference very well. I'm confident I'll be able to pronounce it better with practice. Miss Thương was very patient and helpful.

Chị Thương is always well prepared for lessons with her interactive review activities (which it looks like she prepares beforehand the lesson). She gives great explanations to difficult topics and challenges me to create examples to reinforce my learning. Additionally, she often exercises role playing scenarios where for example, I would act as an unhappy customer and she would be the waiter in a restaurant. I feel like activities like these have really improved my Vietnamese speaking ability over time.

There was a lot of new learning today and it took me a little while to understand all of the new terminology. Miss Thương was very patient with me!

Miss Thuong is an excellent teacher. I am finding the language difficult - especially the tones - but she is patient and very clear in her delivery.

I think SVFF should have corrected my pronunciation since when I started to study with your school nearly two years ago. That's certainly one of the reason why I'm still struggling with my listening skills. That's been definitely a serious teaching mistake from SVFF that you should be aware about for your future students in order to avoid them to be in my regrettable case. Now I'm gonna have to correct habits I developed for those last 5 years I've been learning Vietnamese from the South. It's hard not feeling that I literally wasted years of learning the wrong way. Please be aware about that and don't repeat the same teaching mistake (I'm talking to SVFF in general not only about my current teacher). I'm pretty sure that if I had learnt the right way since the beginning about Southern pronunciation my listening skills would be much less LOW than right now which would have helped me to avoid a lot of persistent and awful frustration learning the Vietnamese language for ALL those years. I hope you will consider seriously my feedback.
