Shadowing Practice — Improve Your Pronunciation

What is Shadowing?

Shadowing is a language learning technique where you listen to a native speaker and immediately repeat what they say, trying to match their pronunciation, rhythm, and intonation as closely as possible.

How to Use SVFF Shadowing

  1. Go to svff.online/shadowing
  2. Browse exercises by level (beginner, intermediate, advanced)
  3. Click on an exercise to open the player
  4. Watch/listen to the original video
  5. Click Record to record yourself repeating
  6. Listen back and compare your pronunciation with the original
  7. Save your recording for your teacher to review

Tips for Effective Shadowing

  • Start slow — begin with short, simple sentences
  • Focus on tones — Vietnamese tones are the hardest part; shadowing helps train your ear
  • Repeat multiple times — do each exercise 3–5 times for best results
  • Record yourself — comparing your recording to the original reveals gaps you can't hear in real-time
  • Practice daily — even 10 minutes of shadowing dramatically improves pronunciation over time

Your Recordings

All your saved recordings are stored in your account. You can listen back to them anytime to track your pronunciation improvement over time.
