How to Navigate Your Textbooks and Courses

Understanding the Course Structure

SVFF organizes all learning content in a clear hierarchy so you always know where you are and what comes next. Here is how it works from top to bottom:

  • Courses -- Your textbook. Each course corresponds to one Vietnamese language textbook (for example, "Saigon Vietnamese" Book 1).
  • Modules -- Major chapters within a course, each covering a theme or topic area.
  • Lessons -- Individual study sessions inside a module. Each lesson focuses on specific vocabulary, grammar, or conversation skills.
  • Sections -- Every lesson is divided into sections that guide you step by step through the material.
  • Activities -- The interactive exercises within each section. These include listening, speaking, reading, writing, matching, multiple choice, and more.

Finding and Enrolling in Courses

There are two main pages to find your courses:

  • /courses -- Browse all available courses. You can see descriptions, the number of modules, and difficulty level before enrolling.
  • /my-courses -- View courses you are already enrolled in, along with your progress in each one.

To enroll in a course, simply open it from the /courses page and click the Enroll button. Once enrolled, the course will appear on your /my-courses dashboard, and you can start learning immediately.

Navigating Through Lessons

When you open a lesson, you will see its sections listed in order. Work through each section from top to bottom. Inside every section, you will encounter different activity types:

  • Vocabulary introduction -- Learn new words with audio, images, and example sentences.
  • Listening exercises -- Listen to native speakers and answer comprehension questions.
  • Speaking practice -- Record yourself and compare with model pronunciation.
  • Reading and writing tasks -- Practice reading passages and writing short responses.
  • Quizzes and matching games -- Test your knowledge with interactive exercises.

Complete all activities in a section to mark it as done, then move on to the next section. Once every section is finished, the lesson is complete.

How Progress Tracking Works

SVFF tracks your progress automatically as you complete activities. On your dashboard and inside each course, you will see:

  • Completion percentage -- Shows how much of a lesson, module, or course you have finished.
  • Scores -- Your results on quizzes and graded activities are recorded so you can review your performance.
  • Module unlocking -- Modules unlock sequentially. You must complete the previous module before the next one becomes available. This ensures you build a strong foundation before moving to harder material.

You can revisit any completed lesson at any time to review or improve your scores.

Story-Driven Lessons (Dynamics)

Some courses include dynamic, story-driven lessons. These are interactive narratives where you follow characters through real-life situations in Vietnam -- ordering food, meeting friends, traveling, and more. Story-driven lessons combine dialogue, cultural notes, and practice activities into an engaging experience that makes learning feel natural. Look for these lessons inside your course modules alongside the standard lessons.

Tips for Getting Started

  • Start with the first module and work through lessons in order for the best learning experience.
  • Use headphones for listening and speaking activities to get the most out of audio exercises.
  • Do not skip sections -- each one builds on the previous one.
  • Check your /my-courses page regularly to see your overall progress and pick up where you left off.
