Booking a Lesson on SVFF
One-on-one lessons with a Vietnamese teacher are the fastest way to improve your speaking and listening skills. Here's how to find a teacher and book your first session.
Browsing Teachers
- Go to the Teachers page from the main navigation.
- Browse teacher profiles — each one includes their teaching style, specialisations (pronunciation, business Vietnamese, exam prep), languages spoken, and student reviews.
- Use the filters to narrow by availability, level taught, or rating.
Viewing Availability
Click on a teacher's profile to see their weekly calendar. Available time slots are shown in green. All times are displayed in your local timezone — the system detects this automatically, but you can change it in your account settings.
Booking a Session
- Click an available time slot on the teacher's calendar.
- Choose the lesson type: 1-on-1 (50 minutes, 5 credits) or Trial Lesson (25 minutes, 2 credits) if it's your first time with that teacher.
- Add an optional note to tell the teacher what you'd like to focus on (e.g. "I want to practise ordering food in Vietnamese").
- Click Confirm Booking. Credits are deducted immediately.
After Booking
You'll receive a confirmation email with:
- Date, time, and timezone of your lesson
- A link to join the video call (lessons use the built-in video room)
- Any preparation materials the teacher has shared
A reminder is also sent 1 hour before your lesson.
Cancellation & Rescheduling Policy
All lesson purchases are non-refundable. However, you can reschedule your lesson:
- More than 48 hours before — you can reschedule to a different time at no extra cost.
- Less than 48 hours before — the lesson cannot be rescheduled and credits are not returned.
Please notify your teacher and SVFF as early as possible if you need to reschedule. To learn more, see our full cancellation and rescheduling policy.
If a teacher cancels, your credits will be returned to your account.
Tips for a Great Lesson
- Test your microphone and camera before the session.
- Prepare 2–3 topics or questions you'd like to discuss.
- Don't worry about making mistakes — that's what lessons are for!
