Hi, my name is Yannik Hodel.  Here is my self introduction.  Reasons learning Vietnamese: My wife is vietnamese and I want to be able to talk to her family. (Over 700 days Duolingo didn't get me anywhere near confident enough to speak).  Short introduction: I'm Yannik from Switzerland. I work as a software engineer which also reflects my interests very well :) My goal for Vietnamese is to be able to talk to my wife's family which can also help me to get more in touch with and understand her culture. Until now I've tried to use Duolingo but on there they teach northern dialect which makes it less useful than I would like. I think the most important part for me is direct feedback especially for pronunciation since Vietnamese is very different from my mother tongue German. I'm the kind of person that needs to feel like I speak properly to be encouraged to use a foreign language. If I am unsure about my pronunciation I usually feel too embarrassed to speak..
