What it means
In Southern Vietnamese, "con" and "chú" are used to show respect when addressing someone older than you, similar to using "sir" or "uncle". "Con" is used by the younger person to address the older person, and "chú" is used by the older person to address the younger person (if male) or when referring to the younger person in conversation to someone else.
