Recently, we have received many questions about the difference between Northern accent and Southern one in Vietnamese. Some students are even worried if Southern people will understand when they speak Northern accent and vice versa. This seems to be an interesting topic to many Vietnamese learners so we will explore it today.
The 2 main aspects that distinguish Northern from Southern accents are pronunciation and vocabulary. In this post, our main focus is vocabulary.
VOCABULARY is a significant difference
There are many words pronounced and written differently between Southern and Northern although they have exactly same meanings. Please take a look at this table.
