How to Write a Recommendation on Google and Facebook

You’ve just finished a great block of lessons with your Vietnamese teacher. They’ve patiently corrected your pronunciation, laughed at your jokes, and helped you finally understand the Southern accent. You want to thank them and let other students know how good they are. But where do you start?

For a small school like SVFF, online reviews mean everything. They are how new students find us, and they are the best reward a hardworking teacher can get. A simple public thank-you goes a long way. In this guide, we will walk you through exactly how to leave a recommendation on Google and Facebook, step by step.

Quick answer: To write a review, search for "Southern Vietnamese for Foreigners" on Google to leave a star rating and comment, or go to our Facebook page's Reviews tab and click "Yes" to recommend us. Mention your teacher's name and what you achieved!

Why your review matters so much

Unlike big language institutes with massive marketing budgets, small schools rely on word of mouth. When a new expat in Saigon wants to learn the Southern dialect, they check Google and Facebook first. Your honest experience tells them that SVFF is a real, welcoming place.

More importantly, it helps your specific teacher. Our teachers put their hearts into making their lessons engaging and personalized. Seeing their name mentioned in a positive review is a huge confidence boost, and it helps them build their reputation within the school and with future students.

Step 1: How to leave a Google Review

Google is often the first place new students look for us. Leaving a review here is quick and incredibly impactful.

  1. Open Google or Google Maps on your phone or computer.
  2. Search for "Southern Vietnamese for Foreigners" or "SVFF".
  3. Look for our school profile in the search results (it should show our logo and address in Ho Chi Minh City).
  4. Scroll down to the Reviews section and click or tap "Write a review".
  5. Choose your star rating (we hope for 5 stars!), paste your text, and hit Post.

Privacy tip

If you are worried about privacy on Google, you don't need to use your full name. Your first name or a nickname is completely fine. What matters most is the content of your review and your teacher's name.

Step 2: How to write a Facebook Recommendation

Facebook is another huge community for expats in Vietnam. Recommending us here helps us reach people asking for advice in local expat groups.

  1. Log into your Facebook account and search for the "Southern Vietnamese for Foreigners" page.
  2. Once on our page, click on the Reviews tab at the top (underneath the cover photo).
  3. Facebook will ask, "Do you recommend Southern Vietnamese for Foreigners?"
  4. Click Yes.
  5. A box will pop up. Write your recommendation here, and click Post.

What makes a helpful review?

You don't need to write a novel. The best reviews are honest, specific, and highlight your personal journey. If you aren't sure what to say, try answering these three simple questions in your text:

  • Who is your teacher? Always mention them by name so they get the credit they deserve!
  • What was your starting point? Did you start from zero? Did you know a few words but felt too shy to speak?
  • What has changed? Can you now order a coffee without pointing? Can you have a basic conversation with your in-laws?

Short example reviews to inspire you

Here are a few examples of great, effective reviews you can use as inspiration:

"I have been learning with Miss Mai for three months. I started with zero Vietnamese and was terrified of the tones. She is so patient and makes every lesson fun. Yesterday I ordered food at a street stall in Saigon and the lady actually understood me! Highly recommend SVFF."

"SVFF is fantastic. My teacher, Mr. Phi, completely fixed my pronunciation of the Southern vowels. The lessons are practical, focused on real Saigon slang, and very flexible with my work schedule. Cám ơn thầy Phi nhiều nha! 5/5 stars."

"I took the beginner course with Miss Nhi to help me talk to my partner's family. She explains grammar simply and gives great cultural tips. The school is professional and the online setup works perfectly."

Local tip

Draft your review in a notes app first. This way, you can easily copy and paste the exact same text into both Google and Facebook to save time!

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to write my review in English or Vietnamese?

English is perfect! Most new students searching for our school are expats who don't speak Vietnamese yet, so an English review is the most helpful for them. If you want to show off your progress with a sentence in Vietnamese at the end, your teacher will love it.

Can I leave a review if I only took the trial lesson?

Absolutely. If you had a great experience during your free 30-minute trial, leaving a review about the booking process, the teacher's friendliness, and the school's professionalism helps other hesitant students take the leap.

I don't have a Facebook account. Is a Google review enough?

Yes, more than enough! You don't need to review us on every platform. A single review on Google is incredibly valuable to us and to your teacher.

Can I update my review later?

Yes. Both Google and Facebook allow you to edit your reviews. If you pass a new milestone — like finishing your A2 course — you can always go back and add an update to your original post.
