In this lesson, you will learn how to deal with one of the most popular situations if you are a tourist in Vietnam: BOOK A ROOM in a hotel
VOCABULARY
- phòng: room
- đặt phòng: book a room
- muốn: want (would like)
- phòng đơn: a single room
phòng đôi: a double room - phòng 2 giường: a twin room
- chọn: choose
- theo giờ: by hour
- qua đêm: by night

Check if they have rooms available, so you ask:
Khách sạn có còn phòng trống không? (Do you have any vacancies?)
BOOK A ROOM
To book a room, we have many ways. Here are 2 ways to say it:
- Cho tôi một phòng
- Tôi muốn đặt phòng
ASK ABOUT THE PRICE
Now you can ask for the price of the room with this sentence:
Giá phòng một đêm/giờ bao nhiêu? - (what's the price per night/hour?)
WHAT THE RECEPTION MAY ASK
Next, here are some questions you may be asked:
Anh muốn lấy phòng loại nào? = Which kinds of rooms would you like?
Answer: (Tôi muốn/ Cho tôi) Phòng + đơn/đôi
You can also add some specific demands:
có view đẹp, lãng mạn (with a nice and romantic view)
có vòi hoa sen (with a shower)
Anh ở theo giờ hay qua đêm? = Would you like to stay by hour or by night?
- Qua đêm / Theo giờ
Anh muốn ở bao lâu? = How long will you be staying for?
- Một/hai/… đêm/tuần
STRUCTURES TO REMEMBER
- S + có + sth+ không? (which means ‘Does S have sth or not?’)
E.g Chỗ anh có phòng trống không?
2. A hay B? = A or B?
“hay” means ‘or’ in English. It is usually used in questions to ask about choices.
S+ V + A or B?
E.g
Anh ở theo giờ hay qua đêm?
Anh chọn phòng đơn, phòng đôi, hay phòng 2 giường?
